On the morning of the wedding, we decided to go out to the metropolitan building wedding venue an hour early to scout and get an early start on some of those beautiful details. We really wanted to take advantage of the space, because we knew that it was filled with antique furniture that used to be rented out all over Manhattan. The owner bought this Metropolitan Building used the space to accommodate all of her rentals and stuff, and also to provide a creative studio space for artists. They recently turned it into a venue, so it is loaded with vintage furniture and textures that were so playful with the detail photos and portraits.
This couple is so special to me. I have been fortunate enough to photograph both of her sisters, and I was so grateful that Hana decided to fly me out from Seattle! It was such a wonderful experience to come out all the way to New York and hang out with her and her crew. We felt so inspired by not only their love story but also by this venue and everything that made this wedding unique to them.
We met Jeremy, the groom, on the day of the wedding, and immediately we noticed that he had such a contagious smile. He was just so giddy and happy to be marrying his girl finally! He was beyond accommodating and sweet. One of my favorite parts of the day was when they had their first look, and he was just so happy to see her. Hana’s response, “You didn’t cry.” Which only made us all laugh, because as females I think we all secretly want to see our guys react with tears. But sometimes what can be more touching is having someone tell us how beautiful we look, which Jeremy obviously did. Because Hana looked radiant, of course!
One of the goals that Hana laid out during our logistics meeting was that she really wanted this one Vanity Fair style photo, so we made her goal a reality with one of my favorite photos!
Their ceremony itself was so touching, and the officiant, Shane, was a childhood friend of Hana’s. The reception was so much fun, and, wow, does Jeremy have some dance moves! He killed it all night with his moves. We ended up joining the couple and the guests at the after party in New York on a rooftop and got a chance to really get to know everybody.
So here’s to the newlyweds Hana and Jeremy! Thank you so much for including us and having us a part of your special day. I’ll cherish these memories as much as I hope you do. This blog is dedicated to you and your love.
