OUR STORY
After a hard day of work, Cassandra Knowles decided to stop for dinner and a beer at Silver City and watch the Yankees Red Sox game late July 2010. It was a good thing that it went into extra innings because Adam Waterman would also stop in that night and start a conversation with her. They talked about many things that night and Cassandra told Adam how she was living in a cabin on the Olympic Peninsula without running water and only a solar panel that would provide her enough electricity every night to cook dinner, charge her phone and run the record player for a couple of hours. Adam said she reminded him of the eponymous character from Willa Cather’s novel “My Antonia.” He did not find out until a few months into their relationship that she had been reading “My Antonia.” Neither had any idea that two and half years later outside the restaurant they met in that he would get on one knee and ask for her hand in marriage.
With family from Missouri, Florida and the Bahamas and family and friends they had surrounded themselves in Washington with they were married on April 20, 2013. Adam already knows the sight of Cassandra coming down the aisle will be one of the most vivid memories of his life, just as she feels the same about seeing him standing waiting for her. It was fitting that Adam’s best man chose a passage from “My Antonia” to read. It was a day filled with love and happiness that they will look back on fondly.
Special thanks to everyone that worked hard on Cassandra + Adam’s wedding day!
