After meeting Chris and Janna in person, it really made sense why they chose to have an April Fool’s wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory. These two are far from traditional but still value a simple and beautiful wedding. We kept joking all day about what prank they would pull on their guest. In the end, they completely forgot about it and just cuddled up all night into each other’s arms.
They choose to get ready at the Hyatt Olive 8 Hotel in downtown Seattle. My second shooter, Tanya photographed the boys while I was one door away photographing all the beautiful details Janna had put aside for me.
The couple headed off in separate cars to meet up for their first look inside the Volunteer Park Conservatory. From the moment Chris saw Janna, we could tell how calm he felt around her. We took advantage of a little bit of the time we had before the ceremony by taking some bride and groom portraits inside the Volunteer Park Conservatory.
This was the first time I had ever shot a wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory. What I love about this venue is the even on a cold raining day, you can guarantee yourself a garden greenhouse dry area with plenty of natural light for your intimate ceremony. The Conservatory only hold about 15 guest max maybe a little more and is pretty reasonably priced for those budget-friendly brides.
Just outside the area is so many beautiful options for taking a great variety of outdoor forest type images. We were lucky because the cherry Blossoms had just bloomed and we were able to snag some incredible images with the couple.
