OUR STORY

Drew and I first met through our love of sports and fitness.  Baseball, in particular, sparked an immediate connection between us.  The day I met Drew, I was leading a fitness challenge sponsored by my former employer and he was the personal trainer assigned to lead the challenge.  I was wearing a Philadelphia Phillies t-shirt with the name and number of my favorite player, Chase Utley, on the back.  After noticing my t-shirt, Drew continued to tease me about being a Phillies fan for weeks, often emailing me news articles about misbehaving fans in Philadelphia, my hometown.  He also tested my sports knowledge thoroughly every time I entered the gym until he finally realized I was a true fan.

A few weeks later our favorite teams, the Phillies and the Red Sox, played a three game series.  Drew asked if I would be willing to place a bet on the series (which was a date if the Phillies won) and I jumped at the opportunity.  The Phillies lost the series that year but Drew and I still went on our first official date a few days later.

I may have lost the bet but I feel like I won.  I gained a best friend and I knew I had met my soul mate.  On our first date we realized that we had much more in common than sports and fitness and from that day on we were inseparable.

This year, when the Phillies and Red Sox play, we will be newlyweds having only been married for two days.  We will still be wearing our favorite team’s jerseys, still placing a bet on the series, still madly in love and forever grateful that this series and our two favorite teams brought us together forever.
